Using successive screenshots to depict a certain procedure is a lot more efficient than writing long text explanations, and less time and resources consuming than recording and editing a screencast.

Clarify is a simple yet powerful macOS screen grabbing utility that resides in your status bar and allows you to quickly capture desktop images by using the Shift + Command + 2 hotkey (can be changed in the Preferences).

You can choose to show or hide the cursor by pressing the “C” key, or toggle the capture mode by using the space bar.

The application also offers support for capturing images with a small delay, going from 2 to 8 seconds. The captures are automatically imported in a new Clarify document window where you can easily add new images or annotations before sharing the results with others.

Within the Clarify document window, you have the possibility to quickly add graphic or text annotations: simply select to tool you want to employ and make the necessary adjustments. Most functions are self explanatory, but the app also provides useful tooltips that will help you find your way around in no time.

When you are satisfied with the result, you can export the project to a PDF, Word, or HTML file. Note that Clarify comes with multiple document templates for each format in order to help you create professional looking files in no time. However, you can also simply export the images to a separate folder.
