ColorWorkshop For Mac

ColorWorkshop is a relatively straightforward OS X application that allows you to create and export personalized color palettes for use in various design projects.

The first tab enables you to find color codes in specific palettes, as well as create new ones. You can search for specific items to locate them more quickly, edit them and use the color navigator to scroll through all the available ones.

Two selected colors can be compared at the same time so that you can analyze them in great detail. However, this operation is better performed in the second tab, where you can also view the spectral curves of each color code.

If you have access to an EyeOne spectrophotometer and have connected it to your Mac, you can also use ColorWorkshop to measure color codes.

The fourth and last tab is designed to offer you the possibility of selecting colors manually, and you have multiple tools at your disposal: the Color Atlas, a simpler color picker and the standard one bundled with OS X.

When it comes to exporting your color codes, ColorWorkshop is quite versatile. They can be saved to AutoCAD PAL or Adobe Photoshop ACO files, as well as the VectorWorks format. Color palettes can be saved as JPG or BMP image files.

If Adobe Illustrator or InDesign are installed on your Mac, you can export data as color fields directly into the applications. Moreover, single color codes can be sent to Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop.

There is no denying that ColorWorkshop can be a very useful tool for graphic designers, but it is not particularly intuitive. Granted, there is extensive documentation to help you out, so this should not be a major issue, provided you go through the manual to ensure you understand what each function is for.
