  • You can now disable Oblivious DNS via the Preferences page. Go to about:preferences → Privacy & Security → DNS over HTTPS.
  • The Linux tarball now extracts into a subdirectory named waterfox, rather than into the current directory.
  • Waterfox will no longer decode URLs when copying them. This should allow easier sharing.

  • If you are closing more than 1 tab, you will now receive a prompt asking the below:.
  • Confirmation you want to be notified of closing multiple tabs.
  • Confirmation you want your session to be restored.

  • Hovering over inactive tabs will once again show the close button.
  • Waterfox will be less strict with its public key pinning, which should resolve issues some users had connecting to certain websites.
  • The extension button should no longer be missing! For the time being, moving it around has been disabled.

  • You can treat the address bar as a standard input field by toggling browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll to false in about:config.
  • With the above set to false, you can enable a double click to select all by setting browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll to true.

  • Now testing a new logo and typeface. The reason for this change is that the existing logo was designed as a raster, meaning it's been difficult getting high resolution versions out of it. If you prefer the older logo, please comment here.

If it's not working straight away, you can update the DRM plugin by going to the Preferences page → General → Files and Applications and un-check "Play DRM-controlled content". Wait for a few seconds, then re-check the box. The DRM plugin should update.

  • Video overlay is enabled on Windows for Intel GPUs, reducing power usage during video playback.
  • Scrollbars on Linux and Windows 11 won't take space by default. On Linux, users can change this in Settings. On Windows, Waterfox follows the system setting (System Settings > Accessibility > Visual Effects > Always show scrollbars).
  • Waterfox now allows users to use as many microphones as they want, at the same time, during video conferencing. The most exciting benefit is that you can easily switch your microphones at any time (if your conferencing service provider enables this flexibility).
