  • Fixes to playback of certain files with new sequence player. Add support for views (defined in the web interface) specifying a sort order. Add support for exporting Apple ProRes files, including 4444 XQ, to the segment exporter (Mac only). Add support for transcoding with NVIDIA hardware acceleration to the FFmpeg exporter (Windows only). Add a new GPS tool to find clips within the current catalog based on their distance from the selected clip(s). Fix an issue with sequence editor timeline thumbnails.   • Better control over whether to play hi-res files on slow storage (with prefer original/prefer proxy/force proxy playback preferences, and a new LTFS Volume setting that displays warning before accessing files from there). Add support for custom marker fields. Add support for saving and loading user defined fields and metadata to server using new metadata API. Allow ${catalog[xxx]}, ${importSource[xxx]} etc. to access custom catalog fields, import source metadata, etc. Update RED SDK. Fix -2010 error when transcoding certain RED footage.   • Enhance the FFmpeg exporter to allow time varying text (markers and subtitles) to be burnt in, and the exported movie to be prefixed with a title slate. The sequence editor now supports editing markers on the sequence, and adding a clip to a sequence now copies markers to the sequence. Improve the 'match frame' command so it finds corresponding frame both from the sequence window to the source window and vice versa. Add support for sending to Premiere Pro CC 2018. Fix RED playback issues with certain files. Read DJI drone camera metadata and GoPro record date. Fix related to the Undo command sometimes not working. Other fixes and improvements.

  • Ability to lock particular user-defined fields so they can't be edited by normal users (only those with permission to edit locked fields)
  • Ability to mark particular fields as being mandatory, so you can't publish catalogs to the server unless those fields are filled in. Fields with missing data are shown in red.
  • Ability to configure the client so it 'always connects to server', so users need to log on as soon as the application is launched and always get the latest settings from the server.
  • Option to automatically open the last server catalog that the user was working on.
  • A new 'Clip Owner' field keeps track of who first created a clip. The 'Status History' field now keeps track of more changes to a clip, not just who approved or rejected a clip by changing its 'Status' field.
  • It is possible to give users permission to add new values to a drop-down pick list without making them an administrator who can edit group settings or create new users (though individual pick lists can be locked down so they only have a fixed list of values).
  • New permissions to control whether users can Delete Clips, Edit Locked Fields, Edit Picklist Values, Delete Other People's Clips/Catalogs.
  • Users now need to type in their user name when logging on to the server rather than picking a user id from a drop down as that is more secure. (The old behaviour can be re-enabled in Preferences if required.)

A few minor fixes were made since the last beta, including a fix related to importing 23.98fps clips from FCP, Export as HTML now links to preview movies rather than the full-res versions, new options to control use of the Delete key and whether to use the built-in RAW image viewer, and minor updates to the online help.

New in CatDV Standard 8.0.8 (Jan 15, 2010)

  • Enterprise server preferences now store user fields and picklist values in a seperate field definition set object that can be shared between production groups.
  • User fields can now be locked so only specified users can edit the field.
  • Pick list values can now be edited by specified users without requiring admin priviliges to edit other preference settings (though individidual pick list fields can be fixed to prevent new values being added).
  • There are two new permissions "Edit locked fields" and "Edit picklist values" to control the preceding functionality, as well as separate control over deleting ones own or other people's clips and catalogs.
  • The new 'Logged By' field shows which user owns a clip. Pick list changes are automatically propagated to other users when polling the server.
