JPX is a graphic raster format that features a new graphic compression standard and coding system, namely JPEG 2000 Core Coding. Users can save and store JPX images using either lossless or lossy compression.
Also, unlike JPEG files based on DCT (Digital Cosine Transform), JPX files are encoded using a wavelet compression algorithm.
JPX images also feature additional metadata describing the exact contents of this type of files.
JPX is not a very popular image format, therefore users will have to select and use a specialized image viewer in order to open their JPX images.
