RAS (standing for Sun Raster Graphic) is an image raster format developed and used by Sun Microsystems. Images stored as RAS files can be either uncompressed or compressed using the RLE graphics compression method.

The main benefit of the RAS format is that it features it can support 1, 8, 24, or 32 bits of information per pixel.

Editing a RAS file can be achieved only by using a specialized application that comes with support for this specific graphics format.
