FIT, better known as FITS (short for Flexible Image Transport System), is an image format largely used for storing the frames grabbed from telescope observations.

The FIT graphic format was developed to store astronomical image data using a standard format, and it usually contains both binary data and ASCII text.

FIT editors provide their users with the option to crop, rotate, or flip their image, but also to overlay effects and watermarks when needed .

There are FIT editors that will also allow their users to easily convert their adjusted images to other, more common, graphic formats.
