BMP Viewer Apps and Alternatives

BMPs are raster bitmap files which contain multiple levels of color depths per pixel, according to the number of bits per pixel available in the file header.

BMPs are quite common, therefore most image viewers and editors will be able to access and/or edit these type of image files.

BMP viewers will usually also allow their users to perform some basic editing actions, like rotate, crop or mirror their BMP images, while others will even support graphic conversions.

Because it is an uncompressed format, BMPs are large, therefore they are not used for transferring data over the Internet or over slow types of Internet connections.
