Skrifa For Mac

Skrifa is a secure and multi-platform Electron-based digital notebook which comes with a feature-rich word processor and gives you the tools you need to encrypt all your content using PGP.

The Skrifa app provides you with a minimalist user interface designed to help you focus on your content and start working right away on notes containing anything from simple text to programming code.

Because Skrifa also focuses on helping you protect your content's privacy, on launch you have to choose between creating a Skrifa account or using a local PGP key.

The PGP key you create when registering for a Skrifa account or the one you create on your Mac will subsequently be used to help you encrypt and decrypt your notes.

The important thing here is that once you've chosen a way to encrypt your content, each time your start Skrifa on your Mac you will be asked to enter your key's passphrase to access your notebook.

Skrifa's note editor comes with a vertical sidebar on the left of the word processing area, containing all the tools you need to include headers in your text, style it and insert anything from tables to video and code snippets.

Via the Actions toolbox, you can quickly undo and redo the changes you made in the note and even edit its HTML source code using Skrifa's built-in HTML editor.

Skrifa comes with support for the Mathjax display engine which allows you to add mathematical expressions using LaTeX, MathML, and AsciiMath notation within your notes.

If you choose to use Skrifa as your go-to code editor, it will automatically highlight all your code using the very fast and light Prism syntax highlighting library.

At the current time, an inbuilt spelling and grammar checker is the only feature it lacks to make Skrifa a must-have app for people who write a lot of content on a daily basis.

In a nutshell, if you need the Swiss army knife of notebooks on your Mac, Skrifa is the app you were looking for, as it includes everything you would need to create beautiful text content, and encrypt it seamlessly using a PGP key.

You can also export your notes to multiple document formats and share them with other Skrifa users or in plain text with anyone you want using your public PGP key file.
