Text processing is a common task that most of us must perform daily: Document Writer is a small Mac app that includes a collection of basic text editing tools that can help you get the job done in no time.

Document Writer preserves the customary design of most text editing applications: within the app’s main window  you can process the data, while the top toolbar provides quick access to frequently used tools.

At a glance, you have the option to quickly insert image files or organize your info into a table, to create lists, to change the text alignment, or to enable the window ruler.

Moreover, you get to easily access the search and replace panel, or the Inspector window where you get to customize the document layout.

To review all the Document Writer capabilities, you must explore the app interface on your own: the utility does not include any kind of documentation.

Via the Document Writer File menu you have the option to export your document to HTML, PDF, RTF, or DOC files. During our test, all these features have failed generating different error messages while we were working with a document started from scratch that has been initially saved as a RTFD file.

However, we have been able to save the document to other file formats by using the “Save as” menu entry. Document Writer should be able to produce RTF, RTFD, DOC, DOCX, TXT, Webarchive, XML, HTML, or ODT documents.

Document Writer is intended to help you deal with text editing tasks without having to employ complicated word processing suites.

However, the Document Writer app does not provide innovative features: noteworthy is the interface design that might prove to be a relaxing working space for some.
