Menulet that helps you edit text in any application using your favorite text editor. #Edit text #Text editor #Process text #Edit #Process #Text
QuickCursor is an open source Mac menu item that allows you to edit text from any application in your favorite text editor.
Unlike custom “edit in” plugin solutions QuickCursor provides a standard open source solution that uses public API's and doesn’t require input manager hacks to work. QuickCursor works by reading a string value from the source application via the current AXUIElement. Next it sets up a ODBEditor session with the preferred editor.
When the preferred editor modifies the string QuickCursor writes that value back into the source application via the AXUIElement.
QuickCursor allows you to edit text from a text field in one application using many of your favorite text editors: · BBEdit · Espresso · MacVim · Smultron · TextMate · TextWrangler · WriteRoom
It’s also incomplete. QuickCursor works with some applications and doesn’t with others. Technically it works with any application that exposes it’s text to the Mac OS X Accessibility API through a single string value. One popular case where it does not work is in Mail.app.
