Easily clear text formatting, automatically or on command, and paste plain text without affecting unrelated content, with the option to exclude certain apps. #Remove Formatting #Plain Text #Clear Formatting #Formatting #Paste #Plain
If you think about it, when's the last time you copied some text and wanted to maintain its original formatting? I honestly can't remember, and it's a bit odd that the default is to carry over formatting when it's so rarely needed.
Pure Paste aims to turn things around, making the default action to paste as plain text. It also gives you the option to clear formatting manually if you prefer, along with the ability to exclude apps or certain types of content.
On macOS, you can paste text without formatting by using the ⌥⇧⌘V hotkey — clumsy, to say the least. If you need to copy and paste lots of things, it's just going to slow you down.
Once installed, Pure Paste makes pasting as plain text the default action. It will ignore images and files, as well as text copied from password managers, and you have the option to also preserve links and remove tracking parameters from URLs.
While auto-formatting is enabled, you can press Option (⌥) when copying text to maintain its original formatting. Alternatively, you can disable auto-clear and set up a shortcut for removing formatting from whatever has been copied to the clipboard.
If you configure this shortcut to also paste the processed text, you can essentially create a simpler hotkey for pasting text without formatting.
If there are certain apps that need to maintain their formatting when you're copying text, just add them to the exclusion list. This allows you to paste plain text by default but still carry over formatting when copying from specific apps.
Pure Paste offers the kind of customization options that we wish were available in macOS. It makes pasting as plain text the default action, while still allowing you to clear formatting manually and exclude content or apps as needed.
