Fixkey is a native app that relies on large language models to modify text in various ways. It can fix typos, generally improve writing, change its style or formatting, summarize it, translate it, and more.

If all you want is to check your text for typos and fix them, Fixkey includes a simple function accessible via a hotkey. Once activated, all text in the current field will be processed and corrected as necessary.

Other modifications will be kept to a minimum when using this function, but stylistic changes are still likely to be made, and punctuation will also be improved. For the most part, though, it’s a great way to quickly fix your grammar.

You also get a second hotkey, ⌥J by default, that opens a pop-up menu. From here, you can select a number of other options, which will only affect highlighted text. You can improve writing, convert it to bullet points, make it shorter, change its formatting, etc.

Just like with ChatGPT, you have the option to provide custom prompts. Type whatever you want the app to do, such as rewrite the same passage in a different style, and see your text replaced in a few seconds.

Fixkey is a well-made app, with a focus on accessibility and unobtrusiveness. It requires an internet connection for most features, though offline models are available for certain actions. There are lots of potential uses, and its macOS integration makes it easy to implement in most workflows.
