It is often necessary to process text copied from various sources, and you don't want to look for a suitable web app whenever you need to clean up some text, convert it to another format, extract content, and so on.

Esse is an open-source utility that packs dozens of text processing tools into a single intuitive app, which can even be extended further with user-made scripts. It is available for Mac and iOS, and it integrates with Shortcuts for maximizing productivity.

Esse can be used via the main UI or from the menu bar. The main interface is split into two panels: one for the input text and one for the results. Active functions are visible in the menu bar, and you can add these from the Command Palette (⇧⌘P), which includes a search tool and allows you to favorite items.

The app can also process text directly from the clipboard. To do so, click the menu bar icon and select one of the functions. The processed text will replace the original in the clipboard, and you can paste it anywhere you like.
