Analyze surveillance footage and automatically detect the portions that captured events instead of personally reviewing the recording. #Analyze footage #Surveillance footage #Detect motion #Analyzer #Footage #Surveillance
Reviewing recorded surveillance footage in order to find relevant events can prove to be a tedious task. SmartMotion employs motion detection algorithms in order to identify the portions that interest you in a matter of minutes.
Right off the bat, you must feed to the SmartMotion application the videos you want to examine. You can add entire directories, or you can import single files.
SmartMotion integrates batch processing capabilities, so you don’t have to waste too much time with the importing process.
The application automatically detects the video thumbnail and offers you the possibility to define either rectangle or freehand regions of interest. This part is necessary because SmartMotion will monitor that region and extract footage in case motion is detected.
Via the SmartMotion Preferences window, you have the option to change the pixels and motion detection threshold to make sure you get relevant results. Keep in mind that the results can be influenced by the recording quality.
The same area offers you the possibility to adjust the video output bitrate, to disable the audio output, or to choose the container format for the extracted video content: AVI, MP4, or MKV.
SmartMotion will display thumbnails for the detected frames in its main window, and you get to export the video file with a simple double click. Note that SmartMotion creates a new output folder for each analysis, so using a separate directory for the output is advisable.
Since the SmartMotion application does not include any type of instructions or usage tips, finding your way around and understanding how everything works might be a challenge.
However, you can watch a small video tutorial online, on the developer’s website, to clarify some aspects.
