Playr is a video player that aims to make the entire movie watching process as simple as possible: open the video file via the Finder menu or by using drag and drop actions, and control the playback with the help of an auto-hiding toolbar.

The Playr app opens a separate window for each video, so you do not waste time dealing with playlists: whenever you want to change the video, just switch to the respective window and press the play button.

The Playr playback toolbar enables you to play or pause the track, to rewind or skip back only 15 seconds, to monitor the playback progress, or to adjust the volume. The same area enables you to change the audio track or the subtitles language.

Note that Playr comes with built-in support for numerous video file formats, such as MP4, M4V, MKV, DIVX, MPG, AVI, MOV, and more.

Since the developers do not provide an exhaustive list containing all supported formats, just drag and drop the file on top of the Playr icon to see if a particular video can be played.

Worth mentioning is that Playr can open locally stored subtitle files, but can also go online and search for available subtitles on the opnesubtitles.org website: you even get to query for a particular language.

Moreover, via the Playr Preferences window you get to create your own subtitles profile by customizing the font style and size, the text alignment and color, the shadow opacity and blur, and so on.

Last but not least, if your video file includes chapters, Playr offers you the possibility to quickly jump to them, so you can avoid manually browsing through the movie file.

Bottom line, Playr comes with a stylish user interface that does not feature any unnecessary elements and offers you the possibility to watch video files without wasting time organizing them into playlists.
