MovieMaker For Mac

Time lapse video are fairly popular and enable you to review large collections of images in a short time period. MovieMaker is able to detect all the images stored in a specific folder and helps you merge them into a single video file.

Finding you way around the application is fairly intuitive: the main window is separated in three tabs and you can easily navigate between them. Right off the bat you must provide the source folder, then make the video adjustments, and finally preview and export the output.

The MovieMaker import procedure is reduced to a simple drag and drop action: you must place the images folder on top of the apps main window. The utility will scan the folder on its own and then lets you know how many images have been detected. You are able to process popular image file formats, such as TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or GIF.

In the MovieMaker Settings panel you can adjust the video width and height, the framerate, and the image quality. You can choose to overlay the file name and the time stamps in the bottom left corner of the video.

Other customization options include the fact that you can adjust the image scaling (Aspect, Aspect Fill, Resize, or Fit), the output file format (M4V, MOV, or MP4), or the codec used for the video (H.264, MJPEG, PRO RES 442, or PRO RES 4444).

Last but not least, MovieMaker enables you to sort the source images by different criteria: creation date, file name, modification date, or by the date included in the file name.

MovieMaker is a very easy to use application that can be successfully used to transform large image collections into time lapse videos in no time. The best part is that you get to preview the result before exporting the movie file.
