MKV2X For Mac

MKV2X is a simple and lightweight Mac OS X application specially made to help you convert MKV files to various video formats compatible with various mobile devices and game consoles.

MKV2X comes with a user-oriented interface that provides quick and easy access to all available tools and features. Although MKV2X does not offer a wide variety of features, it supplies numerous encoding profiles compatible with all sorts of smartphones, tablets, game consoles and more.

From MKV2X’s main window you can quickly and easily drag and drop the files you want to convert and choose the desired encoding profile. All profiles are grouped into various categories such as Devices, Apple, Android, Video and Audio.

Once a profiles is selected, you can also access the Settings window and further customize the Profile Settings according to your need. Consequently, you can change the audio and video codec, change the video resolution and frame rate, adjust the bit rate and audio sample rate or the number of channels.

What is more, MKV2X helps you extract audio from your MKV video files and convert it to AAC, MP3, FLAC, WAV, OGG, AIFF and other popular lossless audio formats. Unfortunately, you cannot select a different encoding profile for each of the MKV files added to the conversion list.

However, you can access the Tool menu and configure MKV2X to automatically shutdown your Mac when all tasks are complete. Moreover, you can change the path of the output folder and decide how many process MKV2X should perform at the same time.

We could not notice the total lack of basic video editing tools that can help you trim or cut parts of the original file in order to encode only the clip you are interested in. Hopefully this drawback will not push prospective buyers to other similar MKV converters that provide more useful features.
