DVD Converter For Mac

DVD Converter is yet another OS X application that can rip DVDs to a variety of formats. It supports any DVD in your media drive as well as DVD folders, i.e. the “VIDEO_TS” folders. Moreover, it comes with extra features, such as trimming video length or choosing the subtitles.

As expected from a DVD ripper, this one comes with a highly intuitive WYSIWYG user interface. Just add your DVD content and it will be displayed in the middle area of the main window. You can select which ones to convert and view their details (duration, progress and “from and to” times).

Another important feature is the ability to preview each clip in the DVD. You can control the playback and view the elapsed / remaining time, as well. The output format can be selected via the Profile drop-down menu. The following formats are supported: MP4, MOV, AVI, WMV, 3GP, FLV, MP3 and more.

In addition to this, you can also adjust some basic video and audio settings, including video codec, data rate, frame rate, resolution, bit rate and sample rate. What’s more, you can also choose the subtitles type and toggle an option to automatically send resulting MP4 or MOV files to your iTunes library.

An extra function is the ability to trim the length of each clip in the DVD from a standalone “DVD Setting” window. It offers two tabs, one for adjusting the trim settings (start and end time in hours, minutes and seconds) and another for configuring the conversion settings.

All things considered, the DVD Converter app is yet another DVD ripper for the Mac OS X platform. Although it certainly does not bring anything new to the table in terms of functionality, it gets the job done and the price tag is fair. The app might win you over through its straightforward user interface and versatility.
