Claquette is a great example of why a paid app can be a better choice. On the face of it, it's a fairly simple application, offering screen, camera, and voice recording. The selling point is that it makes recording and exporting content incredibly straightforward, and it also lets you trim and crop your GIFs or videos in a couple of very simple steps.

Once you've stopped recording, you will be able to preview the captured content before exporting it to a video or GIF animation. Before that, however, you have the option to hide the cursor, show or hide the video track, and enable or disable the audio track.

Moreover, you can trim unnecessary sections from your video and crop it. These two features are remarkably fast and easy to use, so much so that even the most inexperienced of users will have no problems with them.

The export options are relatively straightforward, but it is worth mentioning that you can customize the presets quite a bit, so you aren't locked into limited profiles. If you buy the Pro edition, you can even export projects directly to Final Cut Pro X or Motion 5.

Overall, Claquette is a good choice for beginners or those who want a very straightforward capture process at their disposal. It does lack the option to record a specific area or window, and it isn't the cheapest option around, but it may be worth it thanks to its intuitive design alone.
