menuffy For Mac

You’re never going to run into problems finding an app’s menu — it’s always there, in the top-left corner of the screen. However, depending on your workflow, it may not be easy or convenient to move your cursor all the way there just to access a menu item.

menuffy makes it easier to open an app’s menu right where your attention currently is — at the mouse cursor’s location. It uses a customizable keyboard shortcut and can be found in the menu bar.

To get started, just launch menuffy and switch to another application. When using the default shortcut (⌘⌃M), the app’s menu will be brought up at the current location of the mouse pointer. It is identical to the original menu, but it is arranged vertically rather than horizontally.

If you have a large monitor, or you need to avoid large mouse movements in order to stay productive, an app like this can save you quite a bit of effort and help you work more efficiently.

As you are probably aware, you can use the Search function in any app’s help menu to find a specific function. When you open the menu using menuffy, this feature is still available. Simply click on “search menu” and start typing to filter the available menu options.

The default shortcut might not be for everyone, but you don’t have to stick to it. The app allows you to use any key with any combination of modifiers, just make sure there are no conflicts.

menuffy isn’t going to revolutionize the way we use our Macs, but it is a very helpful addition in some situations. Anything that can help you work more efficiently is more than welcome, and it is entirely free and open-source to boot.
