Place a new clock in your status bar and have it display the time for a timezone of your choice, using the format that you prefer. #Display time #Additional timezone #Custom timezone clock #Time #Clock #Timezone
mclock offers you the possibility to place an additional clock into your status bar and have it display the time for a location of your choice. The app allows you to customize both the timezone and the clock format.
By default, Mac OS X offers you the possibility to view the system’s clock in the status bar, together with the date and provides a couple of customization options when it comes to the clock format. However, if you change the timezone for this clock, the modification will affect your entire system.
mclock is a minimalist OS X app that provides an alternative solution to this issue. Regardless if the system clock is present or not, mclock can be placed in the status bar, and you can easily configure its display.
Within the mclock Preferences window, you can set the timezone by using the area code, or by browsing the timezone name menu. You can also set up the time format using a notation of your choice.
Note that in both cases you are directed to online resources where you can find details about the timezone abbreviation and about the date format patterns. Just choose one that matches your needs, save the settings, and mclock will take care of the rest.
mclock also comes with a preview function that enables you to see how the clock will look in the status bar. Since you cannot use hotkeys to activate the preferences window, and have to always go through the mclock menu, being able to preview the results eliminates the need for repetitive actions.
mclock is designed to help you put an additional clock in your menu bar and see a timezone of your choice at a glance, without interfering with your system settings.
The app allows you to change the timezone and date format, but does not integrate any customization options when it comes to appearance.
