ChatGPT For Mac

There’s going to be no shortage of ChatGPT apps for the foreseeable future, and that’s not exactly a bad thing. You get more apps to choose from, and the technology is only going to get more advanced.

With a distinctive name like ChatGPT, this particular desktop client is one of the most complex currently available for macOS. It allows you to access the service from a Mac app, and it adds a bunch of useful features, like shortcuts, commands and prompts, menu bar integration, and text-to-speech.

If you’ve used the web version of the service, the UI will look pretty much the same. Once you log in, you’ll see your conversations and controls on the left, with the actual chat on the right. It’s almost identical to the web UI, but there are a few differences.

You have some options for exporting a conversation to Markdown, PNG, or PDF, you can copy a specific reply to the clipboard, and there is also a text-to-speech button if you want to hear the text being spoken out loud.

If you go to the app’s control center, you can sync a list of ChatGPT prompts from a repository aptly named Awesome ChatGPT Prompts. These are some pretty cool examples of what you can do with the language model, and they can give you interesting ideas or save you time.

These prompts can then be inserted by just typing /(slash) in the text input area. This will bring up the available commands for these prompts, which are then executed when you press Enter.

The app can be accessed from the menu bar and hidden from the Dock entirely, with many customization options available for both the main and menu bar windows.

If you like, you can change the URL the main window and menu bar shortcut lead to, and they will be wrapped into a desktop application.

In short, this ChatGPT client is great for users who want more features to go along with the service, while also enjoying the convenience of accessing it outside of a browser.
