Using compressed archives is essential when transferring or storing data, but it can seriously increase the processing time. iUnarchive is designed to help you preview the content of your archives in order to see if they contain the files you are looking for.

What’s more, iUnarchive is also able to compress files and create zip, jar, war, ear, cbz, 7z, tar, tar.gz and tar.bz2 archives.

Taking into account the archive type, the app provides several compression methods, such as Deflate, Deflate64, BZip2 or PPMd. Except when dealing with TAR archives, iUnarchive enables you to use different compression levels (0, 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9).

Last but not least, you can also password protect the resulting archives and even use one of the 4 encryption methods for ZIP packages: ZipCrypto, AES128, AES192 or AES 256.

The entire process is reduced to dragging and dropping the files you want to compress on top of the iUnarchive main window and making the necessary adjustments. The same rule applies when you want to open packages.

For each archive, iUnarchive will open a new window allowing you to browse its contents. The app is able to preserve the folder structure and can open certain file types on its own: DOC, PPT, PDF, RTF, JPG, PNG, GIF, XLS and more. It also comes with support for syntax highlighting. At the same time, it can send the files it cannot preview to their default apps.

Noteworthy is the fact that iUnarchive can process packages stored online, on your email server or in your cloud service. This way, you can access the files from your mobile devices via the iUnarchive app for iOS.
