iBackupMounter For Mac

iBackupMounter is a minimalist macOS utility that scans your drive for available iOS backups and mounts them in the file system. This way, you can effortlessly view their content, and extract and delete information or files.

When you connect an iOS device to your Mac, via the iTunes application you can either manage its content or completely backup the entire device to your drive. This way you can make sure that you will never lose your contacts, messages, media files, apps settings, and so on.

As you launch the iBackupMounter app, the utility will scan your drive for iTunes backups and automatically mount them, allowing you to browse the backup content through a Finder window.

Within the iBackupMounter main window, you can see the date and time of the currently mounted backup together with the device name, and the last connected mobile or WiFi networks.

The iBackupMounter app should also display the detected contacts and messages, but during our tests, the tool was not able to present the info even if the backup file included the data. 

By default, iBackupMounter works in read-only mode, which means that you can only see the files but not interact with them. To disable the function, just tick the appropriate checkbox in the iBackupMounter main window.

Note that iBackupMounter will mount the iOS backup again, and now you can copy the files to other locations, or just delete them. If you want to preserve the changes, make sure to save them before unmounting the backup.

iBackupMounter proves to be extremely useful whenever you need to extract files or information from an iTunes backup without restoring the image to your phone.

Since iBackupMounter automatically detects and mounts the backups and allows you to navigate them using the macOS file system, the entire procedure is quite straightforward.
