Keep your passwords, credit card info, bank accounts and other sensitive information in a secure, encrypted wallet accessed with a master password. #Password Manager #Secure Storage #Encrypt Data #Password #Encrypt #Store
You can store anything on your Mac, but certain types of data also needs to be as secure as possible, not to mention convenient to access.
eWallet, sort of like a regular wallet, is meant to help you securely store all kinds of important information, while still making it easy to access when you need it. It works for passwords, credit cards, contacts, sensitive records, and anything else you might want to keep safe.
When you boot up the app for the first time, you have the option to use a sample wallet. This gives you a rough idea of how eWallet can be used, but the possibilities are endless thanks to its completely customizable categories and fields.
You can add, remove, or rename any category, and entries have fully configurable fields and field types. This flexibility makes the app an option worth considering when compared to more modern-looking alternatives.
While it can be used for anything, storing passwords is what many users will be interested in. Adding an account is fairly straightforward, and you even have a password generator to make your accounts harder to break into.
Autofill is a popular password manager feature, and eWallet includes it as well, though it’s a bit more limited than what some competitors offer. To autofill, you’ll have to click the URL in the app, which will take you to the page in your preferred browser. The functionality can’t be accessed from the browser directly.
The first impression I got was that the app looked a bit outdated. This is especially evident when looking at the icons, the data entry fields, and the cards themselves. The data entry sidebar also doesn’t seem to have proper Dark Mode support, with white borders still visible.
Overall, eWallet can be a good alternative to more popular password managers, especially if you’re trying to get away from subscriptions. It gets top marks for customization but loses out on looks and some functionality. Unless you need the extra customization, a free option like BitWarden would still be my recommendation.
