While macOS comes with many window management features, they just aren’t enough for some users. It can be especially difficult on a MacBook, and developers have come up with interesting ideas for apps that could help you out.

Window Collage is one of the simpler options available, but it can be incredibly helpful nonetheless. It enables you to move windows to certain areas of the screen with just a single hotkey, and it also supports customized layouts.

By default, the app offers quite a few window layouts that can be activated with hotkeys. Essentially, when used while a window is highlighted, it is sent to a specific part of the desktop and resized accordingly.

These layouts are all fully customizable, and you can also create new ones. From the application's settings, you can define the dimensions and position of the selected window after a hotkey is used.

There is also an alternative method of managing windows. After using a certain key combination, you will be able to drag and drop the window in a corner or on one side of the desktop.

To control which layout will be used when activating the function, you need to select the preferred one from the menu bar. Unfortunately, you cannot create any new layouts for this feature.

Window Collage is a good choice for users who want a straightforward window manager without too many confusing features. It works right out of the box yet can be customized extensively, and the fact that it’s free certainly helps.

That said, if you’re looking for a way to save and load entire application layouts for different jobs, it doesn’t really offer the features you need. The app lets you move a single window at a time, so it is better suited for quickly moving apps across your desktop whenever needed.
