Webcamoid is a cross-platform project that comes with desktop clients for macOS, Linux, and Windows, while also sporting portable versions.

The Webcamoid utility detects all connected cameras and offers you the possibility to grab pictures or record videos while also applying various effects.

The Webcamoid is able to display the feed captured by any camera connected to your computer, and also provides support for working with virtual webcams and sending data to other third party applications.

Moreover, Webcamoid can also grab the activity on your desktop and offers you the possibility to transform network or local video files into capture devices and apply the same effects.

The Webcamoid app provides control over the video format, resolution, FPS value, backlight compensation, brightness, contrast, sharpness, saturation, white balance temperature, and so on.

Within the Webcamoid main window you get to capture screenshots and record videos, but keep in mind that before that you have the option to add to the image up to 60 different effects. You are able to see the results as soon as you close the effects panel.

Keep in mind that, each effect integrated within Webcamoid comes with its own customization options: as soon as you select one of them you will be able to see the associated configuration panel in the right side of the Webcamoid panel.

Other options include the possibility to set the frameworks and libraries on which Webcamoid should rely on. At the same time, you get to configure the search paths for the plug-in resources and add new capabilities to the application.

Webcamoid scans your Mac for available video input sources and delivers control over the image quality, while also enabling you to apply various effects. Note that the app also provides control over the audio input.

On the other hand, Webcamoid can also capture the desktop and allows you to set media files as capture sources. As a result, you will be able to apply the same effects to your screenshots or your video recordings.
