Remove old versions of documents that are using up valuable disk space for no reason, with this straightforward OS X application #Version scanner #Remove versions #Delete versions #Version #Cleaner #Delete
Back when OS X 10.7 Lion was released, it introduced a new feature designed to make it easier to go back to a previous version of a document, by performing regular backups that can be reverted to at any time. While this feature may indeed be useful in certain situations, it can also cost you a lot of valuable disk space.
VersionsManager aims to help you out in this scenario, as it can scan for older versions of documents on your drives and allows you to delete them individually or all at once.
While you may think that documents cannot possibly take up a significant amount of free space, files that your work on frequently can easily have dozens of additional versions saved on your drive.
For most documents, their latest iteration is normally sufficient, and having access to older versions is no longer necessary. And, while it is possible to delete these manually, it is a tiresome and time-consuming task.
VersionsManager can speed things up a great deal, as it is capable of scanning a specific folder or your entire Mac, and displays how many old versions each document has, as well as the additional disk space they are using up.
You can then inspect old versions if you want to be certain they are safe to remove. VersionsManager also allows you to open them separately, copy them to a new document or compare two versions to better highlight modifications.
VersionsManager can either remove all older versions of a document automatically or let you choose which of them are no longer necessary.
The app is easy to use, so it should not be too difficult for novices to get the hang of things. In any case, the newest version of a document is never deleted, so the probability of losing important data is quite low.
VersionsManager is a handy utility for people who frequently work with documents and wish to free up disk space by deleting old file versions they no longer need.
