Sitting down in front of your computer might feel comfortable for a time, but, in the end, you will find yourself slouching and with back aches.

Vatobe is a little yet quite useful little app created from the ground up to prevent such a thing by reminding you to sit up straight after a preset interval of time using a voice-based alert.

Moreover, Vatobe will stay out of your way after installation by adding only a status bar item and working around the clock in the background to keep you healthy.

Vatobe comes with a tiny resource footprint, and it will only need around 80-90 MB of RAM and under 1% of a CPU core’s total resources while chugging along silently.

Also, for Mac users that use MacBooks, Vatobe will have microscopic to non-existent energy impact and this way their laptop's battery and the owners will stay healthy and in tip top shape.

You can customize the period used by Vatobe to remind you to fix your posture via its status bar menu, with the help of a straightforward slider control. The slider is divided by multiple notches that will allow you to set the app to alert you in 5 minutes to 2 hours time intervals.

Although Vatobe does not come with an option to customize the voice used to notify you to sit up straight, you can still change it from the Speech tab in the Accessibility preference pane.

Even though it doesn't have any such option, you can setup Vatobe to launch automatically on login by launching the System Preferences app, and drag and dropping it in the Login Items tab from the Users & Groups preference pane.

Seeing that this is its first public release, Vatobe worked flawlessly during our tests, and it, not surprisingly, caught us slouching a number of times.

At the moment, the only addition that might benefit the users would be an optional visual alert for those of use that like to keep our Mac's audio muted.

To sum it all up, despite Vatobe's simplicity and lack of fancy features, it has proven during our tests that it is a vital addition to any Mac user that needs to be reminded from time to time to sit up straight to avoid back aches and hefty medical bills to treat them.
