RAM disks, also known as RAM drives, are blocks of RAM used as storage units or disk drives that offers much higher write and read speeds than other forms of storage media, such as hard drives, SSDs and optical drives. Ultra Ram Disk comes with an intuitive slide menu and user-oriented interface from which you can quickly and effortlessly create multiple disks and clean inactive memory. The status bar menu helps you enable or disable the “Open at Login” option and access the Clean Memory and Create Disk window.

By accessing the Create Disk window, you can view the available free memory along with the wired, active, inactive and used RAM. The Disk Option panel allows you to name the RAM disk and adjust the size of the disk by dragging the slider or using the “up” and “down” buttons. You can also choose to automatically create the disk every time the application starts.

The Clean Memory window is similar to the Create Disk window and helps you visualize the free, wired, active and inactive RAM on an animated chart. To clean the RAM you just have to click on the “Clean” button and wait for the cleaning process to end.

It is worth mentioning that RAM disks are created using your Mac’s RAM and once the system is restarted everything stored in the RAM disk will be lost.
