Automate shortcuts based on numerous triggers, ranging from time and location to hardware and software events, from an intuitive interface. #Automate Shortcut #Automate Action #Shortcut Automation #Shortcut #Shortcuts #Automation
You can do a lot of things with Shortcuts, but there are limitations to how you can launch these actions. Most notably, you cannot automate them based on various triggers. It’s an important feature that Apple hasn’t added, but one that can be implemented through third-party tools.
Trypa is meant to be used together with Shortcuts, and it allows you to launch any of the shortcuts you’ve created based on time or location, hardware and system events, or other applications. It’s quite simple to use, with an intuitive graphics-based interface.
Shortcuts can be launched at a certain time or location, when devices are connected or disconnected, on app launches, or when a certain song is played, just to name a few. Keyboard shortcuts can also be used. After selecting a trigger, you can specify the exact conditions.
As for the commands themselves, they are selected from the list of shortcuts you have already created. When running Trypa for the first time, you can even add some suggested actions that could come in useful.
Triggers are color-coded based on type, and you have to follow a very simple set of steps to set them up. If you know how to create a shortcut in the first place, you’ll get the hang of Trypa easily enough.
Once one or more triggers are created, you can click the app’s menu bar icon to check which of them are currently active. You can pause them at any time if they aren’t needed.
If you like using shortcuts but don’t like having to trigger them manually, Trypa is worth a try. The Lite version only supports one trigger, so it isn’t enough for most use cases, but you can at least get an idea of how the app works. It’s novice-friendly and quite capable, and it makes Apple’s Shortcuts even better.
