Arranging windows in a specific manner is a common practice: depending on what applications you use every day, you will create a certain layout that best suits your needs without even realizing.

Swiss Arrows is a small application that allows you to quickly rearrange and resize your windows when your usual layout needs an upgrade. The adjustments are made via an HUD panel that will be placed on top of all windows and can be easily toggled.

The application provides 10 windows states by default and the HUD panel includes visual descriptions for each: full screen, top, bottom, left, right, centered, top left, top right, bottom left and bottom right.

What’s more, you can save your own custom states which can be managed via the Swiss Arrows Preferences window. The app allows you to set up a name for the window state, assigns a number and automatically adds it to the HUD panel.

However, since the app only allows you to see the state name ( you need to place your cursor underneath the assigned number in the HUD panel) and not a graphic illustration, you will have to take the time to memorize the window position assigned to each custom state.

The good news it that, once you got used to certain positions, you can export the custom settings and use the same arrangements on all your computers.

To eliminate the use of the HUD panel, Swiss Arrows allows you to set up your own hotkeys for most of the app’s functions, also via the Preferences window.

To sum up, Swiss Arrows is a great utility if you are looking for a way to quickly rearrange and resize your windows, even though memorizing custom window states might prove to be challenging.
