Disable mouse acceleration easily from the menu bar, with the option to force this behavior if acceleration is re-enabled by the OS or other software #Disable Acceleration #Mouse Acceleration #Acceleration Disabler #Acceleration #Mouse #Cursor
Mouse acceleration is enabled by default on macOS, and there was no easy to way to disable it before Sonoma came around. For those who have older Macs and need a way to disable acceleration, either third-party software or a Terminal command are needed.
SteelSeries ExactMouse Tool is one of the apps you can use to get around this issue. It runs in the menu bar and permanently disables mouse acceleration while active. It’s designed to be as straightforward as possible, and it doesn’t require a SteelSeries device to function.
To get things going, just launch the app and set it to On or Always On. The former simply disables acceleration, and this setting can still be overwritten from the OS settings or via other software. Always On disables acceleration and ensures it remains turned off. This is useful when configuring the macOS mouse settings or if acceleration is re-enabled by other apps.
Depending on the setting you’ve chosen, you’ll see a small green, yellow, or red indicator on the menu bar icon. The app is also configured to start at login automatically. There is no interface to speak of, as the app only appears in the menu bar.
