Today For Mac

Apple’s Calendar app is quite easy to use, but you still have to bring up the main window whenever you want to check something, unless you add a widget, but not all Mac users like them.

If what you want is to be able to see upcoming events from the menu bar, Today is the app for you. It features a purposely simple design, allowing you to check your schedule and join meetings without opening the main Calendar window. And if you want to edit or add an event, it gives you a quick way to bring it up.

If you’re a fan of menu bar integrations, this app does it right. An unobtrusive icon and a simple menu give you all the information you need, and you can customize various details depending on what you need to know.

If you like, the app can also show past events, indicate which calendar each item belongs to, hide or display all-day events, or even show their end times if necessary. Of course, you can also choose which calendars should be tracked.

Fifteen minutes before a conference call is about to start, Today will list it at the top of the menu, along with the time remaining, and you can join the call with just one click.

The app does not have a UI for creating events. Instead, clicking New Event or a scheduled item will open Calendar so that you can add or edit events there. It’s all in the interest of keeping the app as simple as possible.

If you’re perfectly happy with Apple’s Calendar app and just want to be able to track if from the menu bar, Today is the perfect choice. It integrates perfectly with the OS, giving you the impression that it was a built-in feature all along.
