Snippy is a minimalist OS X application that comes to meet the needs of all users that employ the same text constructions multiple times during the day. The app also provides support for a sizable number of programming languages, which makes it a nice asset for any developer.

The first step after installing the Snippy app is to start inserting the text snippets into the database. Snippy comes with a small editor where you get to input the text and assign tags to the entry.

At the same time, in the case of code snippets, you get to select the programming language you are using from a simple drop down menu. Note that via the Snippy Preferences window you get to specify the programming languages that should be included in this menu.

Worth mentioning is that Snippy will not list the code snippets collection entries: the app’s menulet comes with a simple search tool that presents the available snippets based on your query.

Snippy does not come with importing or exporting capabilities, but you do get to synchronize the database to all your devices by using your iCloud account. Naturally, you will need to install the Snippy app on the other devices to be able to access the data.

The utility does come with certain customization options when it comes to the editor’s appearance. You can choose one of the predefined themes, or manually change the default color palette.

After the initial setup, which might take some time, Snippy will certainly streamline your workflow. You can place any entry included in the Snippy collection on your clipboard with a simple mouse click, and use in any other utility.
