Snippets manager that can handle text or HTML content, comes with a built-in shell, and allows the user to define text expansion shortcuts #Snippets manager #Text snippet #HTML snippet #Snippet #Text #HTML
Snippery offers you the possibility to create a snippets database that can store both text and HTML content. The app can also directly import content from files and allows you to associate tags to your entries.
Within the Snippery main window, you can easily create new snippets by manually inserting content, or by importing the data from a file or a URL. Snippery comes with a built-in Terminal, so you can create snippets from shell commands results.
For each entry, Snippery enables you to assign as many tags as you like and sports autocompletion capabilities to streamline the task.
Note that when creating snippets from a URL, Snippery extracts the HTML for the snippet content, but you can see the web page by activating the HTML Preview window (go to the Window menu or use the Option + Command + P hotkey).
If you choose to encrypt your database, Snippery will automatically lock the user interface after a period of inactivity. You can also choose to loch the interface with the help of a predefined hotkey.
Snippery allows the user to define text expander shortcuts that can be used to insert the same text strings into a snippet a lot faster, but also packs numerous tools that can help you deal with the text formatting.
The app can help you to add or remove lines, to capitalize words or sentences, to delete tags, to exchange characters, to make the entire text lowercase or uppercase, to add prefixes or suffixes, to delete duplicate lines, and so on.
Worth mentioning is that the Snippery search tool only finds and replaces content within the currently selected snippet. To query the snippets list for a particular entry, you need to first enable the Filter toolbar from the View menu, or by using the Option + F hotkey.
Snippery can be successfully used to manage snippets with ease, yet at least one of the advertised functions does not seem to work properly: the app’s backup files cannot be loaded by the application at a later time.
However, the Snippery utility seems to be under continuous development, which means that any issue that you may encounter could be fixed in the next release.
