Keep your image files at hand at all times and make them float on your desktop, while also staying out of the way, with this nifty app. #Float image #Hover image #Take screenshot #Float #Hover #Image
Working with a large number of image files can be quite tricky, as it is not easy to strike the right balance between accessibility and unobtrusiveness. Either your pictures are always available, but get in the way of other tasks, or they are too difficult to access.
Screen Bandit offers an interesting solution to this problem, as it allows you to keep files stashed in your menu bar, float them on your desktop and have them move away from the mouse pointer automatically.
Screen Bandit rests in your menu bar after it is launched, and lists a user-defined number of thumbnails from your collection, with favorited items being displayed first. You can copy images to the clipboard by clicking on their thumbnails, with or without shadows and rounded corners.
However, it would have been great if there was a way to sort items based on various parameters or organize them into categories.
When you float an image, it is shown on your desktop on top of all other windows, and you can move it around with your mouse.
Hovering items can also be viewed no matter what other apps are open, but they move away from the mouse pointer automatically, so as not to get in your way.
The app’s resource usage is not significant in this mode, as it is comparable to that of a 2D video game. However, laptop users may need to take the increased energy usage into consideration.
When it comes to adding new content, you can either take screenshots or import existing files from local storage.
After installing the application and re-logging into your account, an option will become available in the right-click menu, enabling you to import images files directly from Finder.
Screen Bandit also comes with a screen capture function, and the screenshots can be hovered on your desktop or just added to your collection.
Overall, this is a well-designed app that makes it much easier to work with images, as it allows you to float or hover them on your desktop, copy them to the clipboard from your menu bar, as well as capture new content with its screenshot function.
