Rottenwood is a movie cataloguer for Mac OS X  designed to help cinema fans to keep track of seen or favorite movies, while also keeping a list of films that should be watched in the future.

The utility comes with a search tool that allows you to search for movie titles in a built-in database: find the one you want, specify it’s status (seen, want to see, or favorite), and Rottenwood will automatically add it to the appropriate list.

Noteworthy is that Rottenwood does not allow you to manually add movie titles to the database: if it’s not included in the app’s database, you cannot add it to your lists.

On the other hand, Rottenwood provides an extensive descriptions for each available title, so you will not waste time creating detailed entries. If you ant to learn more about a specific movie, you have the option to quickly open the associated IMDB or TMDB pages.

Rottenwood does not allow you to edit the movie card in any way, but you do have the option to type a text note containing various personal observations, for example.

On the bottom right corner of the Rottenwood main window, the Filter bar allows you to perform searches within your movie lists. This way you can find all the movies that star the same actor, that have the same director, and so on.

Once you found the title you were looking for, you can effortlessly add it to your favorites list, or you can recommend it to others by email or by using your Facebook or Twitter social media accounts.
