Hookshot For Mac

Hookshot is an evolution of Rectangle, a popular free window management tool for macOS. While Hookshot isn't free like Rectangle, it does offer quite a few extra features to justify the price.

Essentially, the app allows you to quickly snap windows to certain parts of the screen, maximize or resize them, as well as trigger instant window arrangements. It can be used via mouse/trackpad gestures or hotkeys, which can be created for pretty much any action.

It may sound complicated, but arranging windows using Hookshot is extremely simple. If you're using mouse gestures, just press the default modifier keys (⌃⌘) and then move the cursor to the side or edge of the screen. You will be shown a preview of the window's new position and dimensions, and it will be moved when you release the modifiers.

In this fashion, you can snap windows to the corners or edges of the screen, maximize or just enlarge them, or any other action you configure from the app's settings. What's more, you can also set up other actions that trigger when the cursor is moved farther in a certain direction.

There are lots of other things you can do with Hookshot. For instance, press ⌃⇧ and start moving the cursor to easily change the position of any window under the mouse cursor.

Resizing is just as simple. Press ⌥⇧ and move the cursor to change the dimensions of any window at the cursor's location. Of course, these modifiers can be changed from the app's preferences.

There are configurable shortcuts for pretty much any snapping action, as well as hotkeys for quickly arranging multiple windows in a certain configuration. Moreover, you can create custom shortcuts that move a window to a certain display, in a certain position, and give it precise dimensions.
