QR Journal is Josh Jacob’s QR code scanner and management application, an intuitive and easy to use macOS tool that makes it straightforward and effortless to quickly scan, import and manage QR codes on a Mac.

First of all, QR Journal can be used to scan any QR code using your Mac’s iSight by displaying your code in front of the camera long enough for its scanning algorithms to detect the QR code. It is very important to make sure that the QR code you want to scan using QR Journal is well illuminated so that the app can correctly detect it.

Once scanned, if the QR code represents an URL it can be opened by clicking on the “Open Link” button, saved within QR Journal’s code manager for later reference or skip it altogether by clicking “Skip” in order to return to the scanning screen.

Moreover, the QR Journal app may also be used for importing QR codes from images embedded in e-mails or websites. The process is similar to the iSight scanning presented above, with the single difference represented by drag and dropping the image onto QR Journal’s import panel instead of using the iSight.

Once you’re done scanning and importing QR codes, QR Journal will provide you with access to all the codes you’ve saved via the left side browsing panel. Each of the saved QR codes will be available with their text, URL and the various notes you’ve added during the scanning or importing process.
