Trigger menu items from the active application by using a simple keyboard shortcut and typing their name, with this handy OS X tool. #Trigger menu item #Launch menu item #Open menu #Launch #Trigger #Menu
When working with particularly complex applications, finding certain functions by searching through a maze of menus and sub-menus can interrupt your workflow and reduce your productivity.
OptionSpace offers a solution to this issue, as it enables you to find specific menu items by simply typing their name, so you can avoid using your mouse and wasting valuable time.
Once OptionSpace has been installed, you need only use the Option+Space combination to bring up the search window. This shortcut can be changed if you find another hotkey to be more manageable.
Then, you can begin typing, and the utility will search for the relevant menu item in the topmost application. OptionSpace searches throughout the app’s menus and sub-menus, and, once you press ‘Enter’, the selected function is activated.
While regular shortcuts are not likely to be replaced, this application can be very helpful if you need to have quick access to menu items that you cannot create hotkeys for.
OptionSpace uses a special algorithm to select the correct item based on fuzzy logic and your previous actions. You can also view a detailed history of all the operations that have been performed in the current app and select any of them to launch the specified menu item.
OptionSpace is only displayed in your menu bar after it is launched, but you can remove the status bar icon as well if you feel it is not necessary. You can also access the app’s Preferences to specify how often it should scan for new items.
Overall, OptionSpace is a handy utility that can be very helpful to many users, as it makes various menu items much easier to access when working with complex applications.
