Offline Time For Mac

Staying offline can significantly improve your productivity level since all distractions are completely blocked. Offline Time is a simple OS X application that helps you to achieve this state by toggling your WiFi connection at specific time intervals.

Note that Offline Time deals only with the WiFi network connection: if you are employing an Ethernet cable, the utility is rendered useless.

Working with the Offline Time application is quite intuitive: use the slider bar included in the app’s status bar menu to select the timer’s interval, and then simply press the Start Timer button.

Worth mentioning is that Offline Time does not provide support for custom timer values: the timer’s slider comes with a limited number of predefined time marks, going from 10 minutes to 24 hours, and then unlimited.

When you start the timer, Offline Time automatically disables your WiFi connection and encourages you to stay offline by displaying prompts whenever you try to enable it again. You can turn on the WiFi again only by disabling the Offline Time timer.

If you try to disable the Offline Time timer before it runs out, the utility makes you confirm the choice 5 times beforehand. Either way, whenever an Offline Time session stops, the WiFi is automatically connected, and your internet access is restored.

Offline Time comes with very few customization options: you cannot change the status bar icon or employ user-defined timer values. Within the Offline Time Settings menu you can choose to be prompted to send a tweet when a timer ends, but during our test we have noticed this function does not work.

To conclude, Offline Time can help you automatically handle your WiFi connection and stay offline when you need to focus on a particular project. Nonetheless, if you are using an Ethernet cable to connect to the internet, the Offline Time timers will not obstruct your connection in any way.
