Duplicate Detector Pro is a no-frills Mac OS X utility designed to scan and erase duplicate files from entire disk drives or only selected folders. This app is useful to users who clutter their desktop, media libraries and other folders with tons of files and folders. If that’s the case, they usually contain duplicate files as well.

Using Duplicate Detector Pro is a piece of cake thanks to the smooth and highly user-friendly interface. Moreover, the application comes with quite a good number of features and fast scanning engine. Duplicate Detector scans a 6 GB folder with hundreds of identical files in less than 2 minutes.

The utility provides two main areas: the start window and the result window. From the former, you can browse and add any number of different drives and folders from your Mac. As for the result window, it lists all detected duplicates and allows you to select the ones you want to move to the Trash.

A great function is that you can view the total size of all duplicates, the size of duplicates associated with a single file and the total size of selected duplicates. This way, you can easily know how much space you can free up from your Mac’s drive. Also, Duplicate Detector Pro enables you to locate detected dupes in the Finder using the magnifying icon to the right of each file.

Although the Duplicate Detector Pro application is not a full-featured solution for removing duplicates, it features a streamlined user interface and a very simple workflow. Moreover, the scanning engine is quite fast and you can preview the size of the duplicate files in realtime when selecting them.
