Nectar helps you keep an eye on upcoming events via your status bar: the utility integrates with your Calendar application and automatically generates a countdown timer for the next event.

Upon installation, Nectar connects to your Calendar application and scans all defined agendas for events. The utility automatically picks up the ones coming up next, and places the task name, together with how much time it is left until the event starts in the panel associated with the Nectar status bar menulet.

The Nectar status bar panel can hold up to 2 different tasks, while the timer for the closest event will also be displayed in the status bar icon. This way, you get to keep and eye on the counter without going out of your way.

You have the option to skip an individual event, but take into consideration that Nectar does not allow you to specify which of the two you want to pass: your choice will directly apply to the first item in the list.

Via the Nectar Preferences, you get to quickly toggle the notification functions that are activated by default. Nectar can also display visual cues, and you get to see them at the time of the event, or with 1 to 5 minutes before that.

Nectar can detect which calendars are containing the source events and offers you the possibility to decide if you want to see the associated items in Nectar or not: there is no other way to filter the entries.

Keep in mind that you might have to restart the Nectar application for these adjustments to be applied.

Nectar takes a new approach when it comes to taking notice of upcoming events: instead on merely displaying alerts, the utility will automatically generate a countdown timer and helps you assess at a glance how much time you have left.

Since Nectar relies on the default OS X Calendar application, the integration process will be seamless, without requiring too much user intervention.
