My Disk Cleaner For Mac

My Disk Cleaner is a macOS application that promises to scan your entire hard disk, detect and display the physical sizes of every file and folder, find and remove duplicates and delete unnecessary files.

When opening My Disk Cleaner for the first time, you will see a plain-looking window divided into multiple panes for accessing the hard disk, partitions, network locations and home folder. Clicking on each allows you to start scanning it and view its contents in the main pane.

The main function in My Disk Cleaner is its ability to scan folders and showing you which folders and files occupy the most space. The scanning process is quite fast and you can view the results in 3 different ways.

In the first view, you can see a pie chart that displays a visual representation of space distribution, although the significance of the colors is unclear. The second view displays your files and folders as a list and, in the third view, you can browse all items and view their navigation path.

The app also supports sending unneeded files to the trash and removing them afterwards. It can also find duplicates and erase them from your disk. These ‘Pro’ features need to be purchased from within the app, though.

Taking every aspect into consideration, My Disk Cleaner has a long way to go until it reaches a “usable” stage. The interface is clunky and needs a lot of work and the features leave much to be desired.
