Open an app's menus at the cursor's position at any time, either by right-clicking while holding down CMD or using a keyboard shortcut. #Open Menu #Menu Shortcut #Menu Hotkey #Menu #Hotkey #Shortcut
Apps can have important functions hidden away in their menus, which aren’t always as accessible as you’d like, and their shortcuts can sometimes be rather difficult to use.
Menuwhere allows you to access any app’s full menus at the mouse cursor’s position, putting all of the app’s features at your fingertips. It works with the frontmost window and can be configured to a certain extent, enabling you to set up different shortcuts or customize the menus.
Here’s how it works: once Menuwhere is active, you can hold down Cmd (⌘) and right-click in an app window or on the desktop. Instead of the standard context menu, you’ll get a duplicate of the options that are normally tucked away in the menu bar.
Since you won’t have to move your cursor to the top of the screen to activate a certain function, this can make app features a lot more accessible, as it eliminates unnecessary mouse movements from your workflow.
By default, you need to hold down Cmd, but you can use other modifiers to replace the context menu. You can configure a simple keyboard shortcut that will pop up the foreground app’s menu without having to use the mouse.
For a cleaner look, you can opt to hide disabled menu items or hide keyboard shortcuts. Specific menus can be hidden if you never need them. The text size and theme of the new context menu can also be changed.
Whether Menuwhere will be useful to you depends entirely on the apps you run and the functions you need to access. If these are hidden away in one of the app’s menus and aren’t easily accessible otherwise, this utility should save you a lot of effort. Anything that reduces unnecessary mouse movements can do wonders for productivity.
What's new in Menuwhere 2.2.2:
- Menuwhere can now detect menu item alternates on macOS 14 Sonoma. Please note that this is a workaround for a macOS bug, where we're forced to take an educated guess regarding which menu items may be alternates. If you're missing menu items that should be visible by default, consider checking the "Make alternate menu items permanently visible" checkbox in Menuwhere's settings.
- Fixed submenu text sizes on macOS 14 Sonoma.
