MaxMenu For Mac

Unit conversion can be done fairly easily online, but random websites are becoming more and more difficult to trust, and you usually have to deal with tons of ad banners in the process.

MaxMenu is a simple utility that allows you to convert values between various units of measurement, and currencies, directly from your desktop, via a menu bar app. It also includes functionality for converting one or more images between PNG and JPG.

From the Tools submenu, you can access currency, time, temperature, distance, and volume converters. These support multiple types of units and several of them can be opened at the same time.

The converter interfaces are minimalistic, but larger than they need to be in some cases. It would be nice to have more compact versions of the UIs that can also be kept on top of all other windows, as this would allow you to perform quick conversions while working on something else.

You can also use MaxMenu to convert PNG images to JPG and vice versa. The process involves selecting the submenu option and navigating to the file’s location, which isn’t all that fast or efficient. The JPEG compression level can be changed from the app’s preferences.

A slightly more helpful feature allows you to convert all images in a certain folder from one format to the other. There are plenty of use cases for something like this, and you won’t have to select files individually.

MaxMenu is a basic app, with not a lot of features and a simple interface. The conversion tools can come in quite handy, but I’d like to see them made more compact and easier to keep on top of other windows. The images converters are very limited, but the batch conversion option could prove useful.
