MONIT offers you the possibility to keep an eye on your system and network performances from the comfort of the Notification Center panel. The utility integrates into your system as a small widget and grants access to the statistical data without cluttering your desktop.
Upon launch, the MONIT application sports a Welcome panel where you get details on how to activate the companion Notification Center widget. Both the instructions and the procedure are quite straightforward.
Once integrated into the Notification Center panel, the MONIT widget will display gauge buttons depicting the CPU, Memory, and Disk usage while also providing details about the network status.
By default, the MONIT widget will include statistical data both about the system and the network performance, but you can change that via the Info panel. You can choose to see only one or the other.
Right off the bat, MONIT includes only general statistical data about each parameter, but if you click your mouse on the gauge or the network status buttons, you will be able to view detailed information in each case.
You can see the CPU power used by the user or by the system, the number of active processes or threads, the current uptime, the GPU model, the wired, active, or compressed memory, the available physical memory, the used and free space for each connected drive, and so on.
Similarly, in the network panel you can see the public and local IP address for each of the available network connections. In each case, you can also see the upload and download rate.
MONIT can be a great addition to your software collection: you get to see details about the system and network usage from the Notification Center panel, without having to place a new menulet in your status bar, or an additional app on your desktop.
What's new in MONIT 2.0.2:
- Not fixed: SMART status and temperature for NVMe disks. Apple does not allow an App Store App to read the SMART status of an NVMe disk
- Changed: Time on Battery is changed to show Time on current power source (battery or AC)
