Simplifies the process of capturing screenshots and videos, annotate them and sharing them to any destinations of your choice with a couple of mouse clicks #Capture screenshot #Grab screenshot #Record video #Capture #Recorder #Grabber
macOS comes with its own tools designed to help take screenshots and record desktop videos, namely a screenshot engine controllable using global keyboard shortcuts and the Quicktime video player which comes with a built-in screen recording feature.
However, macOS does not allow you to share your captures to custom destinations like an FTP server, add them to your Dropbox account, upload them to media sharing platforms such as Imgur, or manage all of them from a user-friendly interface.
Linkshot is a macOS app designed to help you overcome all of the shortcomings mentioned above and more. Moreover, the utility can also auto-share your videos and snapshots, allow you to annotate them after capturing, as well as use them as inputs for custom shell scripts and Automator workflows.
You can control the Linkshot app using customizable global keyboard shortcuts, with Command + Shift + 1 for grabbing snapshots and Command + Shift + 2 for recording videos of your Mac's desktop.
Once launched, Linkshot displays a tour of the app to help you learn how to make the best out of what it can offer you. Moreover, it will get you through every step you need to go through to capture videos and screenshots, annotating and sharing them, as well as adequately configuring the app for the best possible results.
Linkshot adds a status bar item for quickly accessing its screenshot and video grabbing tools, together with a quick way of getting to the Preferences window and the screenshots/recordings management interface.
Unfortunately, Linkshot also adds a virtually superfluous dock icon with no actual use besides taking space in your Mac's dock, as it does not add any extra functionality.
The video recording feature does not work at the moment as the app will show that the recording has started, but you will not be able to stop it or save it.
In a nutshell, Linkshot tries to make it a lot easier to grab, annotate, and share screenshots of your Mac's desktop. It also promises to aid in making video recordings of any area on your screen, but we haven't been able to successfully make on any of our test Macs using the current version of the app.
